The Soul of Europe and the COCEROME, an assumed filiation!
On March 25, 1957, 6 countries met at the Capitol in Rome to sign a treaty that would mark a turning point in history by creating the European Economic Community (EEC): Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
In 1998, the Coordination Committee for the Celebration of the Treaty of Rome (COCEROME) was created to celebrate the heritage of the fathers of Europe, formalized by the Treaty of Rome. Its Secretary General, Patrick Huart, requested the help of Patrick Van den Eede to organize a great symphonic concert in the presence of Prince Laurent of Belgium and the President of the European Commission, Jacques Santer, on March 25th of the same year. All the European institutions, along with the Brussels-Capital Region, joined in the event.
Due to its success, the event will be repeated every spring until 2008, with a broadcast in Eurovision from 2001.

The Soul of Europe, born in 2021 between the end of the global Covid pandemic and the beginning of the war in Ukraine, is a direct descendant of COCEROME.
Chaired by Patrick Van den Eede, it takes up the torch and acquires an international team composed of artists, journalists, scientists and personalities of the civil society involved in the defense of the environment, culture and human rights. It gives itself for mission to develop a "European soul" among the citizens of the Union, based on the achievements of the Treaty of Rome, and by enlightening the way towards a bigger integration and a stronger adhesion of the citizens to the big European project.
It is committed to raising awareness of the culture of EU candidate countries in order to facilitate their future integration, and works to strengthen ties between European citizens by promoting cultural and artistic exchanges.
It carries out a permanent watch on citizen and scientific initiatives, low tech as well as high tech, which aim to develop a stronger resilience to the climate crisis and the collapse of biodiversity.
It puts the protection of the planet, and therefore the future of our children, at the top of its concerns, along with the development of democracy and respect for human rights, far from the pseudo-economic priorities that consecrate the monopolization of natural resources and ecological services, leaving only ruins and desolation as future perspectives...
It wants to be the heiress of the Age of Enlightenment's humanist visionaries and the protector of our childrens' rights to exist in a healthy and peaceful world!
